Team pelted with rocks, eggs and, yes, yogurt

Larissa, the last-place team in the Greek Super League, fell victim to a vicious and well-organized attack by fans after returning from Athens following a 3-0 loss to Atromitos.

Larissa players and staff were left stranded inside their bus for four hours as angry fans set up a blockade by lighting bonfires in front and behind the bus so it could not move when it arrived on Wednesday at a hotel in the Thessaly city.

A group of more than 500 fans smashed the bus windows after pelting it with rocks, eggs and yogurt.

"We expected some kind of reaction from the supporters after this latest setback but it was still shocking to see their rage and disappointment reach such levels that they felt they needed to do that," a club spokesman said.
