Jones leaves Galaxy after 15 seasons

[NEW YORK COSMOS] After 15 years with the Los Angeles Galaxy, as player and coach, Cobi Jones is leaving to join the New York Cosmos as associate director of soccer.

Jones, an assistant at the Galaxy since retiring at the end of the 2007 season, will work with the club's youth program and serve as a spokesperson for the club, which has opened youth academies in the New York and Los Angeles area with BW Gottschee and LAFC and hopes to become an MLS team.

"I am both honored and blessed to have had such a wonderful career with the LA Galaxy and I am thankful for everything the club, the fans and the community has done for me and my family," says Jones. "I am excited to bring my deep knowledge, passion and expertise of soccer in this country to the New York Cosmos. They truly represent where this sport is headed on a national and international level, and I want to make history with them."
