Catrachos advance to Gold Cup

[COPA CENTROAMERICANA] Honduras got two goals from Jorge Claros and one from former Dallas youth star Ramon Nunez to beat Guatemala, 3-1, and claim the fourth berth in the Copa Centroamericana semifinals. The Catrachos also join host Panama, Costa Rica and El Salvador in qualifying for the 2011 Gold Cup.

Guatemala's only goal was scored by Guillermo Ramirez, the former Los Angeles Galaxy striker.

In Tuesday's other games, Panama beat El Salvador, 2-0, to remain perfect, while Nicaragua and Belize tied, 1-1.

Honduras will face El Salvador in Friday's semifinals, while Costa Rica will take on Panama.

Guatemala and Nicaragua will square off in a rematch of their 2009 fifth-place game that sent Nicaragua to the Gold Cup for the first time.

Belize, which was edged out by Nicaragua on goal difference for third place in Group A, was eliminated.

Costa Rica continues to be a consistent player in the CONCACAF region. I still think they should automatically qualify for the Gold Cup and not have to go through a classification tournament to earn a Gold Cup berth.
