Marta headed to Western New York

[WPS] After her first two teams folded, five-time FIFA World Player of the Year Marta will hope for better luck at the Western New York Flash, which acquired the third year of her contract from the FC Gold Pride.

Marta, who will be 25 this February, is WPS's two-time Golden Boot and MVP winner, first with Los Angeles and then FC Gold Pride, with which she won the 2010 WPS title.

“We are thrilled to bring Marta to the WNY area," Flash coach Aaran Lines said. "This is an incredible opportunity for the community and youth soccer players to embrace one of the best female players ever in their hometown. She has incredible physical attributes matched with phenomenal technical abilities. She is an extremely exciting player to watch and is important to the women’s game, and we are excited for her arrival."

Marta is the best player in the world for the past few years. THE WORLD! Do I need to repeat. THE WORLD. She should be playing in the biggest market in the USA.

Santos F.C. in Brasil has been her boot camp, her training ground for years now. She is playing with us now to be able to add a Copa Libertadores title.

Marta is truly a wonderful player and deserves to be paying back in Los Angeles which is a hotbed of youth/adult soccer. When is WPS going to develop an alliance with MLS (via Chivas LA or LA Galaxy) so that the Sol can be re-started in SoCal?
