Born to a father who was an American GI and German mother, Timothy Chandler became the latest American-German to play in the Bundesliga when he debuted atthe age of 20 for Nuremberg last weekend.
His rise follows a switch from Eintracht Frankfurt to Nuremberg last summer and a fall spent on Nuremberg’s under-23 team. “Everything is workingout well,” Chandler said. “It’s a great decision to play for Nuremberg.”
Chandler, who plays on the right side in the back and midfield, is eligible to play internationally for Germany orthe United States, and he could follow in the footsteps of U.S. internationals Thomas Dooley, David Wagner,
“I would love to play for the United States and I am interested in playing in for the U.S. national team more than I am interested in the German national team,” Chandlersaid “But first thing is that I need to get more experience with Nuremberg.”
