Big Green hires Stanford assistant

[DARTMOUTH WOMEN] Theresa Wagner, the assistant for the last three years at powerhouse Stanford, has been named Dartmouth's new head women's coach.

"I am honored to accept the position of head coach of the women's soccer program at Dartmouth," Wagner said. "It is exciting to join a program that upholds the highest standards of excellence both academically and athletically. I look forward to continuing the great soccer tradition at Dartmouth and creating a culture of success."

As an assistant for Paul Ratcliffe at Stanford, Wagner helped the Cardinal to a70-4-3 record including her 2008-10 tenure, plus one season as a volunteer assistant in 2002. In her most recent stint, the Cardinal twice advanced to the national championship game.

A 2001 graduate of Washington, Wagner was a four-time All-Pac-10 selection and later played professionally for the San Jose CyberRays in the WUSA.

Prior to her arrival at Stanford, Wagner spent five seasons (2003-07) as the top assistant at San Diego, helping the Toreros to three NCAA Tournament appearances.

She succeeds Angie Hind, who resigned after a six-year tenure to take a job with the Scottish Football Association.
