[MLS] The Columbus Crew won the rights to U.S. under-20 right back Korey Veeder in a weighted lottery held on Tuesday
afternoon.
Four MLS clubs participated in the lottery for the 19-year-old Floridian: Columbus, Toronto FC, Seattle and Colorado.
A team's odds are based on its 2010
regular-season record and adjusted to take into account the number of teams participating in the lottery. A team is precluded in taking part in other lotteries in 2011 if it wins the rights to a
player.
Veeder played for the Clearwater Chargers and spent time at the U.S. under-17 residency program.
He played for the D-2 Pro League's Crystal Palace Baltimore in
2010.
Other 2011 lottery winners: Philadelphia Union (Chris Agorsor), Real Salt Lake (Cody Arnoux) and the
San Jose Earthquakes (Dave Bingham).
