[MLS] FC Dallas signed its sixth homegrown player, 16-year-old keeper Richard Sanchez. He is the third FCD youth signing with ties to the Mexican national team program. The California-born Sanchez was recently named the top goalie at a youth tournament in Chile.
Sanchez played for Texas FC and FC Dallas with a stint in between at Spanish club Atletico Madrid.
He is competing for a spot on Mexico's U-17 national team that will host the 2011 Under-17 World Cup. FC Dallas second-year players Bryan Levya and Ruben Luna also have ties to the national team program. Levya played for Mexico at the 2009 U-17 World Cup; Luna was invited to Mexico's under-20 national team camp in January.
On Friday, Sporting Kansas City announced JC All-American Kevin Ellis out of Barton County Community College as its second homegrown signing.
