Howard stymies champ Chelsea in FA Cup upset

[AMERICANS ABROAD] Tim Howard stopped an ill-advised penalty kick by Frenchman Nicolas Anelka that helped Everton beat two-time defending champions Chelsea, 4-3, in a shootout and move the Toffees into the quarterfinals of the English FA Cup. For video of the shootout ...

Howard had made several key saves during regulation and overtime as Everton and Chelsea played to a 1-1 tie.

Everton came back from 2-0 down to win the shootout at Stamford Bridge and pile the pressure on embattled Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti.

Anelka took a short run-up, and Howard saved easily as he dived to his right to stop Anelka's soft shot.

On Chelsea's fifth attempt, Ashley Cole shot high and wide to allow Phil Neville to finish things off with the winning shot for Everton.
