Better than Rooney's? Sorry. Not even close. Rooney's was not a perfect bicycle kick but it was sweet.

The only reason this was a goal is the keeper played it badly, the ball came in right over his hand. As a matter of fact, if we had a better clip, I think we'd see the ball was actually almost pushed over the bar by the keeper. It wasn't a bicycle kick either, more a side volley he had to go a little higher for.

Rooney's went to the far upper corner, ensuring that, no matter how good the keeper, there was no way to save it.

Ric, you seem to be prejudiced against "Anglophiles" (how you qualify anyone who doesn't agree with you), though Rick's last name seems to support the fact that he's not an Anglo anything. Further, how dare you insult my French heritage? The world is a much better place without this type of attitude , and FIFA has a whole campaign devoted to eliminating attitudes and stereotypes like yours from the beautiful sport. I say, take your bigoted views somewhere else!
Concerning the goal, votes have it 2 to one against it being better than Rooney's goal, I'll stand on the majority. I never said it wasn't a good attempt, but having sight of the goal mouth while taking the shot, one would hope the shooter would place the ball away from the keeper. One would also hope the keeper wouldn't be caught flat-footed when the balls is so close to the goal before the shot is taken. And it doesn't compare to Rooney's for either physical difficulty or placement in the goal.
