Keeper canned for web site comments

[OFF THE POST] Goalkeeper Stijn Stijnen of FC Brugge was described in the Belgian club's fan web site forum as a "hero," "wonderful" and "tops" while fellow Brugge goalkeepers and club management were criticized. Then the club tracked the comments to e-mail accounts linked to Stijnen and members of his family.

The 29-year-old, a former Belgian national team keeper, was first sent to the reserve team for “damaging the interests and image” of the club and then cut loose all together.

Stijnen’s brother and the keeper’s girlfriend eventually claimed they were the ones posting the comments, which included encouraging fans to bring banners to games with derogatory slogans about Brugge’s other goalkeepers, Geert De Vlieger and Colin Coosemans.
