Theo Zwanziger, the president of the German soccer federation (DFB), announced 515,000 tickets have been sold for this summer's Women's World Cup's 32 games in nine venues and the opening match is expected to sell out the 74,228-capacity Olympic Stadium in the capital city of Berlin.

"Once we sell between 630,000 to 650,000, then we will have reached the breakeven point and we will achieve that," said Zwanziger.

Germany was also host of the men's World Cup in 2006. "One should not always compare the tournament to the summer fairytale of 2006," Zwanziger said. "There is a big difference between whether 16 or 32 teams come. But the [women's] World Cup will hold Germany in her spell for several weeks."
