Canada and Jamaica end droughts

[CONCACAF UNDER-17 CHAMPIONSHIP] Canada qualified for the Under-17 World Cup for the first time since 1995 and host Jamaica advanced for only the second time and first since 1999 with quarterfinal wins Wednesday at the Concacaf Under-17 Championship in Montego Bay.

Christopher Nanco and Keven Aleman gave Canada an early and it cruised to a 2-0 victory over Trinidad & Tobago.

Aleman was one of seven players from the Toronto FC academy program in the Canada U-17 player pool.

Jason Wright scored both goals to give Jamaica a 2-1 victory over Honduras and a berth in Friday's semifinals against the USA.

Canada faces Panama in the other semifinal.
