The Vancouver Whitecaps have nearly sold out tickets to their first MLS game — March 19 against Canadian rival Toronto FC — and have sold about 15,500 season tickets so far — 1,000 shy of their2011 goal.

Whitecaps chief executive officer Paul Barber said it’s “very possible” the Whitecaps will sell another 1,000 season tickets over the next 23days.

The Whitecaps will hold back about 2,000 tickets for each game for the local soccer community and for group sales.
