South Africa, not FIFA, needs Jordaan's talent

FIFA's loss may be South Africa's gain. Danny Jordaan, who headed the South Africa World Cup 2010 organizing effort, lost in his bid to become a member of the FIFA executive committee, but that should allow him to have time to help South Africa's domestic game.

While being a member of the FIFA executive committee is a nice gig, Jordaan, who lost to Algerian Mohamed Raouraoua in this week's African confederation elections, has talents that South Africa needs.

The South Africa Football Association needs Jordaan's leadership to build a credible national youth program, in particular an elite national academy to serve as a model for other youth programs.
