[AWARDS] Pete Doneit of Stamford, Conn. and Sarah McNulty of Bismarck, N.D.,
were named the winners of the U.S. Youth Soccer Competitive Coach of the Year awards for Boys and Girls.
They were among the winners of various U.S. Youth Soccer awards handed out at the
US Youth Soccer Awards Gala, held Friday in conjunction with the 2011 US Youth Soccer Workshop at the Marriott Downtown Louisville.
Doneit has coached at the Beachside Soccer Club since
2001. In 2010, his Under-15 Boys team played in the US Youth Soccer Region I Championship finals, missing the opportunity to advance after double overtime with the eventual national champion. His team
is currently competing in the US Youth Soccer National League.
McNulty has worked with Dakota United Soccer Club players as a coach and co-director of coaching. She coached the Under-13
Girls Dakota United team in the US Youth Soccer Region II Championships in 2010.
The national Recreation Coaches of the Year award winners are Jenifer
Wood of West Valley City, Utah (Girls) and Joe Ragusa of Hawley, Pa. (Boys).
Former Ireland international and Oregon coaching legend Jimmy Conway of Portland, Ore., was honored as the recipient for the Dr. Thomas Fleck Award for Excellence in Youth Coaching Education.
Former U.S.
Soccer president Bob Contiguglia was among the administrators named to the U.S. Youth Soccer Hall of Fame.
Other recipients: Chris Christoffersen (Overland Park, Kan.), Elmer Ehlers (Milwaukee) and Darl Rose
(Las Vegas).
