Body of Brown assistant Chartier found in Connecticut

Denis Chartier, who had spent 16 seasons in two stints on the Brown women's soccer coaching staff, was found dead in a parked car in a commuter parking lot on Saturday after being reported missing almost three weeks earlier.

Chartier had been last seen by his family members on the morning of Feb. 5 and then went to Foxwoods Casino in Connecticut. There was no evidence of criminal activity, according to Margaret Klawunn, Brown University's vice president for campus life and student services.

Charter, 56, worked under Brown head coach Phil Pincince, a classmate at Woonsocket High School where they were both captains.

"Denis was a valued member of the Brown community for more than 15 years," said Klawunn in an email to the Brown community. "He will be remembered for his commitment to coaching and for his many contributions to soccer, athletics and campus life."
