West Bromwich Albion defender Jonas Olsson has said sorry for smashing a picture at Stoke City’s Britannia Stadium after a 1-1 on Monday. The Swede was clashing with Stoke strikerRicardo Fuller as he left the field and his frustration boiled over in the tunnel when he punched the picture.

“Tensions were running high at the end of the game because weequalized late on and could even have won it,” said Olsson. “Stoke weren’t happy with that and you could say neither team were really satisfied with the outcome.

“I wanted to shake handswith Fuller at the final whistle, because you do that regardless of the circumstances, but he wasn’t having it. When we went down the tunnel, it did develop into a bit of a scuffle. I hit out with myarm and broke a picture in a glass case on the wall. Unfortunately, it was an old Stoke team photograph, and they thought it showed a lack of respect on my part, which I understand completely.

“I apologized immediately and I do accept it was unnecessary on my part. All I can say is it was probably better to hit the wall than an opponent, but really that does not excuse it.”
