Adu strikes from distance

[AMERICANS ABROAD] Freddy Adu scored his first goal for Turkish club Rizespor with an excellent strike from 20 yards in its 1-0 victory over Gaziantep.

Adu took a ball at the edge of the right side of the penalty area, turned away from his defender and fired a curling shot on one bounce inside the far post.

It was his first goal since moving to Turkey in January.

Rizespor is third in the Bank Asya 1. League, one point off the lead.

Darn, I was hoping to add Freddy to my men's indoor team next year. (joke)

Well remember this is still the Turkish SECOND division... but getting to play beats not getting to play and scoring is a good way to continue to be selected for the next match... so he's had a few assists and a goal... that's a good start, but that is all it is and he's really got to be doing this sort of thing for a full season before people start getting all gooey eyed about our aging prodigy... but it is a case of Freddy possibly becoming a professional soccer player rather than a trivia question and sometime joke.
