J-League action called off in wake of disaster

All 19 matches on the second weekend of the  J-League, Japan's pro league, have been postponed following the devastating earthquake and tsunami that hit parts of eastern Japan.

The earthquake is the largest in Japanese history. The tsunami swept away people, homes, cars and boats, and fires raged through the night.

The 18-team First Division includes Vegalta Sendai, located in Sendai, which bore the brunt of the tsunami. It was scheduled to play its home opener this weekend against Nagoya Grampus.

The J-League opened its 19th season last weekend.
