Jeld-Wen Inc., which manufactures building products including windows and doors, has purchased the naming rights for what will become the former PGE Park, home of MLS expansion club Portland
Timbers. Terms of the agreement weren't disclosed. Jeld-Wen Field will also host Portland State University football games, among other events.
PGE had previously paid some $10 million -- a figure eventually reduced -- to purchase naming rights of the former Civic Stadium in 2000. Jeld-Wen employs about 2,500 workers in Oregon. The company doesn't disclose yearly revenue, but it's believed to generate at least $2 billion in annual sales.
Portland Mayor Sam Adams called Jeld-Wen "a company that has never forgotten its roots and where it comes from. They're scrappy, innovating ... I couldn't think of a better sponsor of this facility."
The agreement includes provisions that make Jeld-Wen the league's "official window and door provider, and the company will provide 25 tickets for each Timbers home game to underprivileged youths.
