J-League to play in afternoons

  • AP, Wednesday, March 23, 2011 3:15 PM

When Japan's J-League resumes next month, all games will be played in the afternoon to save electricity following the disruption caused by the devastating earthquake and tsunami that hit March 11.

The J-League's 38 clubs decided to resume play on April 23. Vegalta Sendai, Kashima Antlers and Mito Hollyhock will play elsewhere because their stadiums were damaged in the earthquake.

Postponed games will be made up during the July break, and the format of the League Cup will be shortened. Night games will be played during the summer to avoid the heat.
