Third ACL tear ends comeback star Angeli's season

[WPS] Jordan Angeli, who twice red-shirted at Santa Clara because of knee injuries suffered in 2007 and 2008 only to recover to become one of the best players for the Boston Breakers in 2010, received bad news that she has suffered a third ACL tear that will sideline her for the rest of the 2011 WPS season.

The injury came in Saturday's WPS opener between the Breakers and Atlanta Beat. Angeli had scored the first goal of the WPS season in the 18th minute but was injured on a tackle from Atlanta’s Kat Reynolds later in the first half.

Angeli, 24, led all WPS rookies in goals scored with seven in 2010 and had the best goalscoring percentage in the league (seven goals on 14 shots on goal).

Her play earned her her first call-up to the women's national team in December 2010.
