Baker and wife join Golden Bears' staff

[CALIFORNIA WOMEN] Patrick Baker is on the move again, landing at the University of California, where he will serve as associate coach under Neil McGuire and his wife, Kelly Sack-Baker, will be assistant coach.

Baker comes to Cal from Division II Rollins, which he coached for one season. He previously led Florida State to the Women's College Cup for the first time and coached at Georgia.

Baker was the all-time winningest coach at Georgia, earning a 66-36-6 record and guiding the Bulldogs to three straight NCAA Tournament appearances (2007-09).

He was the head coach at Florida State for six years (1999-2004) and posted a six-year record of 80-46-11. He took the Seminoles to the College Cup in 2003 when he was named the Soccer America Women's Coach of the Year.

Baker began his women's coaching career at North Carolina Wesleyan and then coached Penn for five seasons.

"We are very pleased to welcome Pat and Kelly to our program," McGuire said. "They each bring great experience and are motivated to help this team excel in the coming season and beyond. Both are wonderful people, and I know our athletes will enjoy them and benefit from their knowledge."

Sack-Baker served as the head coach at Rider, winning 16 wins in her two years at the helm.

Baker and Sack-Back replace former associate head coach Kelly Lindsey and assistant coach Libby Bassett, respectively. Lindsey accepted employment in the Chicago area, while Bassett is in Africa.
