Herculez scores again; Edu & Rangers close gap

[AMERICANS ABROAD] Herculez Gomez's return to form continues with his third goal in two games for Pachuca. Maurice Edu started for Rangers in its 1-0 win at Aberdeen that moved it back to within two points of archrival Celtic in the Scottish Premier League.

Edu received a yellow card late in the game.

Both Rangers and Celtic have two makeup games before the SPL is split into two six-team groups.

Rangers and Celtic will play the first of their five games against each other on April 24, Easter Sunday, at Ibrox.

Gomez came on as a 66th minute sub and scored in the 90th minute in Pachuca's 4-2 loss at Tigres. Gomez shared last spring's Mexican scoring title. But he had scored only one goal in 24 games since joining Pachuca -- after scoring 10 goals in 15 games for Puebla -- before striking twice on Saturday in a 3-0 win over Jaguares.

Against Jaguares Gomez came off the bench in 63rd and scored in the 78th and 80th minutes.
