Nigerian international defender Olubayo Adefemi was killed in a car accident Monday when he skidded off the wet road while driving from the northern Greek
town of Kavala to an airport in Thessaloniki, where he was scheduled to fly home to make preparations for his wedding.
Adefemi, 25, played for Nigeria in the 2005 Under-20 World Cup final
it lost to Lionel Messi's Argentina and at the 2088 Olympics, where it also fell to Messi's Argentina in the final.
He was in the Super Eagle squad
for recent matches against Kenya and Ethi opia.
Adefemi moved
to Skoda Xanthi this season from French club Boulogne. It was his eighth club in eight seasons.
After playing for four Israeli clubs in four years, he moved to Romania and then
Austria.
Nigerian teammates remembered him for his sense of humor.
