[WOMEN'S WORLD CUP] Kari Seitz was selected to referee at her fourth Women's World Cup, and assistant referees Marlene Duffy and Veronica Perez will join her at the 2011 Women’s World Cup in Germany.
"To represent our
country at the World Cup is the highest honor possible for a referee," said Seitz. "We have worked very hard to get to Germany and we couldn't be more proud to have the opportunity to represent all of
the referees here i n the USA."
The 40-year-old Seitz worked
at the 1999, 2003 and 2007 Women’s World Cups and two Olympic Games, making her the most experienced official selected to work in Germany.
Seitz, Duffy and Perez all worked at the
2008 Olympic Games and handled the 2010 Women’s Professional Soccer championship game.
All officials must pass a final fitness test to be held in Frankfurt approximately a week
before the first match on June 26 in Berlin's Olympiastadion. They went through fitness, written, video and on-field testing at the 2011 Algarve Cup in March.
