UCLA midfielder Kelyn Rowe, the lone collegian to start for the USA in ill-fated campaign in the Concacaf Under-20 Championship, is training this week atFrench club Rennes.

“After these two days I know I have much more to work on to get to the highest level in Europe,” Rowe told Yanks-Abroad. “But that is why I am here doingwhat I am doing. I want to train myself at a high level and learn from the players above me to hopefully soon be playing aside them.”

Rowe, who came out of nowhere to win a starting jobwith the U-20s, plans on traveling to Germany next to train. Because he is paying his own expenses and has not signed with an agent, he maintains his college eligibility. He’ll be a sophomore nextfall.
