Mims leaves Warming to return to Omaha

[OMAHA-NEBRASKA] Jason Mims, who served as an assistant at Penn State under Bob
Warming in 2010 after playing and working under Warming at Saint Louis and Creighton, is returning to Creighton's home city of Omaha to head up Nebraska-Omaha's first-year program, which will
begin play in 2011.
In his 11th overall season on staff with Warming, Mims helped lead the 2010 Nittany Lions to 14 wins, the most since by a PSU team since 2002, a Big Ten Tournament
title game appearance, and to the program's first NCAA postseason victory in five years.
Mims was a player for Warming at Saint Louis (1997-99) and a Billiken assistant under him
(2000). They then spent eight years together on the Creighton staff.
“Jay and I have been together since 1997,” said Warming. “Between us, it’s been much
more of a friendship than a head coach/assistant coach relationship. I believe he has become one of the best coaches in the country, not just one of the best assistant coaches in the country. Jay can
recruit, develop, and motivate players. Omaha and UNO are getting the right man who will propel the program forward quicker that most people would think. I am excited for him and for our sport in
Omaha. I couldn’t be more proud of him.”
