[MLS] After Seattle winger Steve Zakuani, who suffered a fractured right tibia and fibula on a foul by Colorado's Brian Mullan Friday night, another MLS star has gone down. David Ferreira, the 2010 MLS MVP, went off with what a fractured
ankle on a hard tackle by Jonny Leathers in FC Dallas' 2-1 win at Vancouver.
Ferreira, who had earlier in the game missed a penalty kick, was stretchered off and taken to a local hospital, where X-rays showed he had suffered a double fracture of his right ankle.
Before Ferreira could be substituted, Dallas tied the score at 1-1 on George John's goal off the ensuing corner kick following Leathers' challenge.
Ferreira's replacement, Eric Avila, scored the winning goal.
After the game, FC Dallas coach Schellas Hyndman described the game as "more physical than it should have been."
