Mystery team wins in debut

[WPS] In the 45 years since pro soccer was launched as a serious venture in the United States, perhaps no club has been as laughable as magicJack, the South
Florida team propping up Women's Professional Soccer. It has no made no effort at p.r. and has no web site, yet it drew a standing-room only crowd for its home debut Saturday at on the campus of
Florida Atlantic University. That wasn't hard. Only 500 seats were available at FAU's soccer stadium because the rest had been taken away for the school's spring football game.
Ella Masar scored in the 26th minute for magicJack, which beat the Boston Breakers, 1-0.
MagicJack, which had a 23-13 edge in shots, started such U.S.
national team stars as Christie Rampone, Lindsay Tarpley, Shannon Boxx and Abby Wambach and 2010 Soccer America Women's College Player of the Year Christen Press.
The WPS mystery team is
operated by new owner Dan Borislow, who moved the former Washington Freedom to South Florida in the offseason.
No crowd figure was announced -- the
only information on the game came via the Breakers -- but more than 1,000 fans watched.
I guess Dan Borislow got the money for magicJack the team by saving some money making commercials for magicJack the product with Power Point
The WPS and it's teams have a hard time operating in the real world. Showing how to keep expenses in check so the outflow will be in line with the income may be the biggest contribution of Borislow. (Assuming that's what is happening in South Florida)
