Sigi Schmid: 'Seattle is as good as anybody'

"I think we're as good as anybody else in this league," said Seattle Sounders coach Sigi Schmid, whose team takes a six-game unbeaten streak into Wednesday evening's game with D.C. United. "I've always felt that and I've always believed in the team that we put out there."

It hadn't looked so bright when Seattle opened the season with back-to-back shutout losses.

Now the Sounders are coming off a dominant 3-0 win against Toronto FC last week and they've won all three games against D.C. United on the road, including two league matches and the U.S. Open Cup final in 2009.

"Obviously it has been a good stadium for us; we want to maintain that," Schmid said. "Winning in a place gives you confidence to go back and win again."
