A midweek friendly in Montreal contributed to a lethargic Red Bulls’ performance in a 3-2 loss to Chivas USA Sunday night, according to Thierry Henry.

New York gave up agoal in the sixth minute and conceded two more — all scored by MLS Player of the Week Justin Braun — in a display nothing like the sharp showing in its previous league match, a 1-1tie against the Galaxy at Home Depot Center.

Before the Montreal friendly, Henry had expressed his concern over the frantic schedule that would allow for just one day of training prior tothe Chivas USA game. “You saw today that the team was a bit flat,” he said after the match.

Henry scored New York’s first equalizer in the 21st minute from an assist by RafaelMarquez, but New York then gave up goals on a pair of free kicks. “Conceding two goals like that on set plays, it’s too sloppy,” said Coach Hans Backe.
