Americans tie, lose in Lisbon

[U.S. UNDER-18 MEN] The United States tied the Netherlands, 1-1, and lost to host Portugal, 1-0, on a late goal in its first two games at the Lisbon International Tournament for under-18 national teams.

The Americans led the Dutch on a goal by Chicago Fire homegrown player Victor Pineda, but the Dutch equalized early in the second half on a goal by Cas Peters of FC Twente.

Ricardo Alves of FC Porto scored in the 81st minute to give Portugal the win.

The U.S. U-18s will face Finland on Saturday.
