Concacaf civil war continues

Day 2 of the Concacaf civil war saw interim president Lisle Austin say again general secretary Chuck Blazer was fired, after Concacaf sent out a statement Tuesday that Austin didn't have the authority to fire him.

Austin shot back that the statement via the Concacaf office in New York was not official. "The former general secretary was one of the administrators of the servers used by the Concacaf department and has access to it and presently still has access to all of the confederation's online service," said Austin, who called Blazer's actions tantamount to trespassing.

After FIFA President Sepp Blatter was reelected on Wednesday, Blazer told World Football Insider that he still had his job, "very much so." Blazer said the majority of the executive committee supported him. "I have always been comfortable with Concacaf," said Blazer, who has held his job since 1990. "There's an individual who thinks he has more power than he does."

Austin is an ally of Jack Warner, who was provisionally suspended as Concacaf president after Blazer reported him and Asian Football Confederation President Mohamed bin Hammam to FIFA for a bribery scheme to win votes for bin Hammam's FIFA presidential bid.
