Red Bulls buck the low-scoring trend

[MLS GOLEADORES] One of the world's lowest scoring leagues, MLS looks headed toward reaching a new nadir in its 16th season. At least the New York Red Bulls, whose Thierry Henry scored his eighth goal of the season in a thriller with Portland, are bucking the downward trend. For the latest on the Golden Boot race and how MLS scoring compares with foreign leagues ...

* New York Red Bull Thierry Henry scored his eighth goal of the season in a 3-3 tie with Portland to join Landon Donovan, who is on Gold Cup duty with the USA, atop the leading scorers' race.

* The Red Bulls have scored 24 goals in 15 games for a 1.60 goals-scored average. Last season, Real Salt Lake finished with the league-high average (1.50).

* The leaguewide goals-per-game average after 137 matches is 2.37. The 2010 season ended with an all-time low 2.46 goals per game, a drop from the previous low of 2.54 in 2009. It was 2.81 in 2008.

* In the most recently completed European seasons, scoring increased from the previous seasons in Germany (2.92/2.83), England (2.80/2.77), Spain (2.74/2.71) and the Netherlands (3.22/2.99).

* Two countries notorious for low-scoring leagues, Italy and France, averaged 2.51 and 2.34, respectively, in their 2010-11 seasons.

* The Mexican 2011 Clausura averaged 2.60 goals per game.

MLS scoring is a joke...it's pitiful how often chances are missed...it's also pitiful how most teams turnover the ball.

    Dear Sir/Madam,

I have the pleasure to brief you on our Data Visualization software
    "Trend Compass".

TC is a new concept in viewing statistics & trends in an animated way
by displaying in one chart 5 axis (X, Y, Time, Bubble size & Bubble
color) instead of just the traditional X and Y axis. Discover trends
hidden in spreadsheets. It could be used in analysis, research,
presentation etc. In different business sectors, to name a few we
have Deutsche Bank, NBC Universal, RIM, Vanguard Institutional
Investor, Ipsos, Princeton University as our clients.

You can download a trial version. It has a feature to export
