Charlie Davies joins the leaders

[MLS GOLEADORES] D.C. United's Charlie Davies scored his eighth goal of the season to join Landon Donovan and Thierry Henry atop the leading scorers' list. * Charlie Davies' scored from close-range after a goalmouth scramble in D.C. United's 2-2 tie with Houston, giving him eight goals for the season.

* The Columbus Crew's Peruvian striker Andres Mendoza scored twice in the Crew's 4-1 win over Colorado to give him seven goals. Colorado's Conor Casey scored his fourth of the season before getting red-carded for sliding and colliding into Crew keeper Will Hesmer. The 33-year-old Mendoza, nicknamed "El Condor," joined the Crew in the middle of last season from Diyarbakirspor of the Turkish First Division.

* Week 15's 12 games included three 0-0 ties, making it 18 scoreless stalemates so far this season.

* But goalscoring was up last week, thanks to high-scoring games in Columbus, Philadelphia (3-2 over Chivas USA), Dallas (4-0 over Portland), Real Salt Lake (3-1 over Toronto) and Seattle (4-2 over New York).

* The week's goals-per game average was 3.08 and upped the season's average to 2.42. The 2010 season ended with an all-time low 2.46 goals per game.
