Fans flock to midsummer MLS games

[MLS ATTENDANCE] Three teams hosted two games in Week 15 and drew impressive crowds even for the midweek matches. One of them, Seattle, set another record. For MLS attendance rankings ...

* The Seattle Sounders opened the upper deck of its stadium and set a club record for a league game when
46,972 enjoyed watching the Sounders beat New York, 4-2, on a Thursday night. It was the biggest crowd for a stand-alone MLS game since 2008. Three days later, the Sounders drew 36,211 for its win over New England.

* Philadelphia drew 18,127 and 18,139 for Wednesday and Saturday games. Chicago drew 14,972 in the midweek and 16,961 on Sunday in a week that saw the leaguewide attendance average hit 19,322. 

* San Jose drew its biggest crowd ever at Buck Shaw Stadium when 10,872 fans suffered through a scoreless tie with Los Angeles sans David Beckham and Landon Donovan.
