Most students got out of school last month, but for MLS players, the July 4 holiday weekend marks the mid-way point, more or less, of the 2011 season.

As such, the Toronto Sun has comeout with mid-term grades, and despite a 3-7-9 record that is barely enough to keep it out of the Eastern Conference cellar, three TFC players earn A’s and several get B’s. There are a lot of C’s,though the team’s record is anything but average.

At the top of the class are keeper Stefan Frei, forward AlanGordon and newcomer Richard Eckersley. Veteran Dan Gargan and academy product Oscar Gordon prop up the squad with their D’s.
