[COPA AMERICA] Less than a year after enrolling at San Jacinto College in Houston, Francisco Calvo has achieved
international success for his native Costa Rica, starting all three games at the Copa America.
Calvo had played for Saprissa's youth team before moving to Houston, where he helped San
Jacinto to a 14-4 record and No. 8 in the NJCAA rankings.
Calvo got his break when Costa Rica national team coach Ricardo La Volpe made him a late
addition to the Ticos' Gold Cup team.
San Jacinto also produced Dane Richards, who plays for the New York Red Bulls and represented Jamaica at the
Gold Cup.
Dane and Frank couldn't get a four year college look. Typical...
I'd guess they weren't academically inclined.
