Toronto's wheeling and dealing continues with third trade

[MLS] Toronto FC, next to last in MLS's Eastern Conference, engineered its third deal in two days when it traded young Cameroonian midfielder Tony Tchani to the Columbus Crew for English defender Andy Iro and French midfielder Leandre Griffit. TFC has now acquired four players and unloaded four others in the last 24 hours.

TFC acquired Canadian midfielder Terry Dunfield from the Vancouver Whitecaps and Jamaican international Ryan Johnson from the San Jose Earthquakes on Thursday.

It also dealt midfielder Jacob Peterson, defender Nana Attakora and forward Alan Gordon to the Quakes.

Toronto had signed Torsten Frings and Danny Koevermans as designated players on June 29.

"We needed help on defense and Andy is a defender that we have wanted to bring in for some time," said Aron Winter, also the club's technical director. "After our deals [Thursday] we felt we could move a central midfielder of value to acquire an important piece. Leandre also provides us depth in the midfield."
