Bedoya tentatively set to join Rangers

[AMERICANS ABROAD] U.S. national team midfielder Alejandro Bedoya reached an agreement to join Scottish champion Rangers in January when his contract with Swedish club Orebro expires. The agreement, however, is conditional on receiving a British work permit.

A deal between Rangers and Orebro to bring Bedoya to Glasgow during the summer transfer market never materialized.

In two-plus seasons in Sweden's Allsvenskan, Bedoya has scored 27 goals in 72 appearances.

"We want quality on the pitch, it's our priority right now," said Magnus Skoldmark, the Orebro director in charge of player sales. "The bid was too small for us to sell him."

Bedoya had had a trial with Birmingham City earlier in the year.
