[VIDEO PICK] Alex Morgan, the 22-year-old Californian who scored for the USA in the semifinals and final of the summer's Women's World Cup,
scored with a wonderfully improvised strike for her WPS team, Western New York, on Saturday.
With three minutes left and her team trailing, 2-1, to the Boston Breakers,
Marta delivered a free kick from midfield into Boston's penalty area. The Breakers cleared the ball, but when it came back, Morgan was able to flick it into the net despite starting
with her back to the goal. The game ended, 2-2.
That was a masterpiece! I only wish we had some male players on the senior team with that kind of creativity and technical ability to make chances from almost nothing like Alex Morgan did here. Great stuff from an exciting player.
