What They're Saying

"Just leave him out. Someone else should tell me why I should have to play him. You guys [in the media] make him out to be the No. 1 story. In two years, you will kill him. ... He's far, far away being an end product. He's miles away. He has to grow his way, take his time."

-- Hans Backe, coach of the MLS All-Stars, on why he waited until the 81st minute to put 18-year-old Juan Agudelo on the field in the MLS All-Star Game, which Manchester United won, 4-0. Agudelo, who plays for Backe's New York Red Bulls and grew up in New Jersey where the game was played, was an All-Star pick made by MLS Commissioner Don Garber. Agudelo has scored five MLS goals this season and has made 10 appearances and scored twice for the USA. (MLSSoccer.com)

Yea, why play an exciting player in a meaningless game with a lot of media and fan exposure. I certainly do not watch soccer to be entertained, we are all too sophisticated for that.
