Ochs' hat trick subdues winless Women of Troy

[USC-SAN DIEGO] Stephanie Ochs’ hat trick gave San Diego a 3-1 win over No. 25 USC, the Women of Troy's second loss at McAlister Field in three days and their first losing weekend ever at home.

San Diego (2-0-0) struck first in the 30th minute when goalkeeper Courtney Parsons booted the ball nearly the length of the field, and Ochs then slipped behind the Trojans defense and hit a one-timer laser strike.

The Toreros doubled their lead in the 55th minute when Ochs midfielder Ellie Magracia lobbed the ball over the heads of the Trojan defense and the ball found the feet of Ochs, who took one touch and then rocketed off another missile of a shot that cruised into the back of the net.

Ochs later completed the hat trick from the penalty spot after she was tripped by a USC defender inside the box.

USC spoiled the shutout in the last five seconds of the match as Erica Vangsness slipped one past Parsons.
