Terrapins fire on all cylinders

[LOYOLA, MD.-MARYLAND] Becky Kaplan became the first Maryland player in 11 years to net a hat trick, Olivia Wagner and Ashley Grove had two goals apiece, and sophomore transfer Hayley Brock had a golazo to lead the No. 4 Terrapins to a 9-0 victory at Loyola, Md., Monday night.

Kaplan's first two goals came in the 12th and 19th minutes, sandwiched between a goal in the 13th minute by Wagner.

The Terps scored twice in the 22nd minute on goals by Grove and Kaplan to increase their lead to 5-0.

Brock scored her first goal as a Terrapin in the 37th minute when she dribbled the ball nearly 40 yards and outraced three Loyola defenders before finishing into the lower left corner of the Greyhound goal.

Wagner and Grove each added their second goals of the game in the second half, and freshman Alex Doody finished off the scoring in the 88th minute.

Annesia Faulker assisted on Doody's goal for her first point in an injury-riddled career since she scored a goal against Virginia on Oct. 16, 2008.

"We scored some good goals tonight from both midfielders and forwards," said Maryland coach Brian Pensky. "It was a great night; Loyola has a beautiful facility and the crowd was outstanding. We're very pleased to get this win and very much looking forward to Friday's challenge when Stanford comes to town."
