[OKLAHOMA STATE-OKLAHOMA] No. 6 Oklahoma State hosts Oklahoma Friday in their annual Bedlam game -- their non-conference meeting officially known as the
Oklahoma Farm Bureau Bedlam Series -- and this year's game has special meaning to the Sooners. It will a chance to get revenge for their loss to OSU in the 2010 Big 12 final on penalty kicks.
“It’s a pride thing,” junior forward Caitlyn Mooney told the Oklahoma Daily. “Last time we played them, they got us in PKs, so were ready to give a little payback.”
It won't be easy. The Cowgirls, who lead the series 13-2-2 and is on a 6-0-1 unbeaten streak in Bedlam matches, returned 10 starters from last season, six of them All-Big 12 performers.
All-Americans Melinda Mercado and AD Franch anchor one of the nation’s top defenses, while senior Krista Lopez (19 career goals) leads the deep attack.
OSU is 2-0-0, while Oklahoma, which has not recorded a victory in the last eight meetings with the Cowgirls, split last weekend, beating UAB (5-0) before falling to Tennessee (3-1).
TV: The Cowboy Sports Network with Chad McKee and former OSU All-American Yolanda Odenyo calling the action (7 p.m. CT kickoff). It will air on Cox Cable Channel 703 (HD) and Channel 3 in Oklahoma City and Tulsa and on Metro Sports in Kansas City.
