[UNC GREENSBORO-DUKE] Junior Hakan Ilhan, a 24-year-old Turkish-German striker from Stuttgart Kickers II, scored a pair
of goals to lead UNC Greensboro to a 3-2 win over No. 12 Duke before 2,064 fans at UNCG Soccer Stadium.
The win is just the fourth for the Spartans over the Blue Devils in 17 meetings.
Oddur Gudmundsson put UNCG ahead in the 9th minute, Ilhan made it 2-0 from the penalty spot in the 16th minute and scored on a breakaway in the 56th minute before Preseason All-American Andrew Wenger brought the Blue Devils back into the match with a pair of goals.
Ilhan, who missed a chance for a first-half hat trick, enjoyed a stellar rookie season for the Spartans, leading the team in scoring in 2010 with 12 goals and seven assists after arriving from the University of Stuttgart.
He starred this summer for the Carolina Dynamo in the PDL, scoring 22 points on 10 goals and two assists in just 11 games and earning all-conference honors.
