Swansea loses defender in golf cart accident

Defender Alan Tate of English Premier League club Swansea broke his leg in what was described as a "bizarre golfing accident."

Tate was a passenger in a golf cart that lost control on Sunday afternoon on a course in Swansea. The 28-year-old Tate was taken to hospital and diagnosed with a broken tibia of his left leg, which Swansea describes as a "bitter blow."

The co-captain is one of only three current Swansea players who have played in all four divisions with the south Wales club that was promoted to the top flight in May.
