Carolina-Notre Dame remains big draw

[ATTENDANCE WATCH] The crowd of 5,236 that watched North Carolina beat Notre Dame, 2-1, on Friday was the largest women's crowd at Fetzer Field in almost 13 years. Of Carolina's four largest home crowds, three were for matches against the Irish.

It was the fourth largest crowd to watch the Tar Heels play at Fetzer Field, behind crowds of 7,212 for a game against Notre Dame in 1996, 6,024 against Notre Dame in 1998 and 5,721 against George Mason in 1993 for Mia Hamm's farewell game when UNC whitewashed the Patriots, 6-0, in the NCAA championship game.

-- Tennessee drew the fifth-largest crowd ever at Regal Soccer Stadium for the opening evening of the First Tennessee Lady Vol Classic. The Vols saw their upset bid undone by UCLA goals in the 81st and 85th minutes and lost, 2-1.
 
-- Temperatures in the 80s didn't deter fans as Portland attracted 4,402 fans for its 1-0 win over Washington State on Friday.

-- Washington State drew a record home crowd of 1,273 for Sunday's 1-0 win over Seattle at Lower Soccer Field.
